History
The building now known as The Forge is one of the oldest buildings in Youlgrave village and was run as a blacksmith’s workshop until about 1975 by Billy Clark, a well known local character.
Originally it was 3 separate workshops – a blacksmiths in the two storey building to the left, a wheelwrights in the single storey central section and a joiners in the two storey building to the right. The roof of the central single storey building was extended to both left and right linking the three workshops.
It was purchased some 5 years ago in very poor condition. It has, since then, undergone a sympathetic conversion and renovation completed in September 2004.
